DIY Pumpkin Spice – Nice!

Do you yearn for Fall just for the pumpkiin spice? Doesn’t everyone?  I know I do.  I had a hankering (don’t you just love that word?) for something pumpkin spice today but, as luck would have it, I am all out.  What’s a girl to do?  Make my own, that’s what!

Pumpkin spice is nothing more than a mixture of spices that are pretty much staples in a pumpkin pie.  Then, some very smart people decided that the spice mixture would be yummy in a whole bunch of other treats.  It was a game changer, to say the least.  I think those people deserve a raise!

I did have spices on hand to make a batch so I decided to make some up.  This is Fall, after all, and I didn’t want to get caught without any pumpkin spice.  It might be a law now.

It is quite easy to make it.  I had all the ingredients except allspice which is a spice I don’t usually use anyway.  I don’t miss any flavor by not using allspice.

In a small jar or container, mix cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and cloves.  Cover and shake it up to mix all the spices.  That’s it!

I had a few of these cute little shaker jars.  I don’t even remember where I got them but they are perfect for pumpkin spice.  Don’t you just love them?

Sprinkle it on your latte, your toast, or just anything you want!

Pumpkin Spice Mix

3 Tblsp ground cinnamon

2 tsp ground nutmeg

2 tsp ground ginger

1 ½ tsp ground cloves

1 ½ tsp ground allspice (optional)

**You can adjust the amounts of each ingredient to your own taste.

Measure all ingredients into small jar or container.  Shake or whisk to mix.  Keep tightly sealed for freshness.
